Marley Apples

While visiting my sister on Vancouver Island, I went for a long walk and saw a sign on the side of the road near her house that read "Marley Wineries". I walked down a long driveway towards the buildings on the property and passed some little apple trees - really short - about three feet tall. Anything a little out of the ordinary always catches my eye because that's what I want for my paintings. So I made a mental note. Later I spoke to a beautiful, gray-haired woman who was the owner of the winery. She told me she was Bob Marley's aunt and named the wine after the famous Jamaican icon. I had to make a painting of the apples as a small tribute to the man and a reminder to myself to keep watching for those magic images.

LUMBAR PINE

The lumbar pine (this one stands near Porcupine Hills in southern Alberta) is a very old species of tree that is becoming rare. I didn’t know that when I chose to paint this. I chose it for it’s beautiful shape and the red in the sandstone rocks it’s sitting on. (Acrylic on canvas)

HI EVERYONE!

Hi everyone! I feel like I've arrived! Really looking forward to connecting with other artists and painters but be patient with me. This is a new experience for me.
